Stephanie Verhoff was selected as one of two 2015 United Soybean Board Fellowship recipients. The United Soybean Board (USB) Fellowship promotes graduate education in the area of Plant Sciences, emphasizing the development of improved soybean varieties, understanding soybean genetics, and developing improved ways to grow and use soybeans. The fellowship provides a $25,000 annual stipend to the student for up to four years.

Vivian (co-advised by Kristin Mercer) and Nathan (van der Knaap Lab) were awarded a grant from OARDC SEEDS in support of their proposal entitiled, "Finding the genetic basis of use traits and climate adaptations in chile peppers (Capsicum spp.) of southern Mexico."

Matthew and Darren were both awarded 3rd place prizes for their research presentations at the 2015 Denman Undergraduate Research Forum.
Matthew presented work on the transient expression efficiency of a novel Agrobacterium strain in soybean leaf tissue.
Darren presented work on the protein yield stability of soybean breeding lines in Ohio.

Congratulations to Qianli for her research award for "Genome-wide Identification of Promoter Sequences in the Soybean Genome" and to Matthew for his research award for "Genomic selection and assessment of soybean for partial resistance to Phytophthora sojae."
The Ohio Soybean Mosers Scholars Award is donated by the Ohio Soybean Council.
